This calendar applies to (refer to Campaign Finance Rule 17):

• Only county school board candidates and their candidate committees whose office does not appear on the ballot in 2026.

January 15, 2026 Annual and 4th quarter reports for 2025	January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025 Annual report - only applies in limited instances for some candidate committees or October 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025 4th quarter report - this does not include committees that last filed December 9, 2025. These committees file next on April 15, 2026, with a reporting period of December 5, 2025, through March 31, 2026.
April 15, 2026 1st quarter of 2026	December 5, 2025, or January 1, 2026, through March 31, 2026
May 31, 2026	Starts the 30-day period for 24 Hour Major Contributor & 48 Hour Independent Expenditure Reports; AND the Electioneering Communication period – see additional information.
July 15, 2026 2nd quarter of 2026	April 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026
October 4, 2026	Starts the 30-day period for 24 Hour Major Contributor and 48 Hour Independent Expenditure Reports – see additional information.
October 15, 2026 3rd quarter of 2026	July 1, 2026, through September 30, 2026
January 15, 2027 4th quarter of 2026	October 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026

Additional information

• Electioneering Communication (EC) time period starts 30 days before the Primary Election and continues through the day before the General Election. These types of communications mention one or more candidates and are part of the regular / standard reports for registered committees and may require non-registered person(s), organizations, etc., to file a separate report.
  • These types of transactions will require you to provide additional information, please review the Colorado Campaign and Political Finance manual or the Colorado Campaign Finance Laws / Rules for more information.
  • Electioneering Communication reports do not apply to Issue Committees.
• 24-Hour Notice of Major Contributor reports are required starting 30 days before a Primary Election and 30 days before the General Election. These reports are due within 24 hours of receiving a major contribution. A major contribution is a contribution of $1,000 or more that is received within the 30 days before the Primary Election and 30 days before the General Election. This is in addition to the regular/standard reports listed above and applies to:
  • Candidate Committees whose office appears on the Primary and / or General Election Ballot,
  • Political Parties, and
  • Issue Committees - Major contributor reporting requirements apply 30-days before the General Election (but not before the Primary Election). Every issue committee is subject to the filing requirement regardless of whether the committee’s issue(s) appears on the ballot.
